  MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING

Brightlingsea Lions are hosting a Coffee Morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support as part of the attempt at the World's Largest Coffee Morning.  This is being held in Great Bentley Village Hall on Friday 30th September between 10 am and 12noon. 

There is no charge for entry but there will be a charge for coffee, plus there will be a cake stall, tombola and raffle.

 
  BRA CHALLENGE

Sunday 25th September sees an attempt to create 5 miles of linked together Bras on Promenade Way in Brightlingsea all in aid of Breast Cancer Charities.

More unwanted bras are still needed and can be dropped off at Fir Tree cafe on the B1027 at Thorrington.

 
 

BIKE RIDE BONANZA

 

The Colne 25 Bike Ride was held on Sunday 4th September and was a big success.  Money is still coming in but the numbers of riders was well up and the prospects are good for a massive amount raised for the three charities supported.  these are the British Heart Foundation, Essex Air Ambulance and Lions Charities.

 

 
 

PIGS WENT RACING IN BRIGHTLINGSEA

 

They’re Off!  Well the Pigs were at least.  The Great Pig Races came to Brightlingsea on Saturday 3rd September:  this time at the YMCA  Hall in High Street, Brightlingsea.

 

They were racing under the guidance of the Brightlingsea Lions and the Lions Club of Clacton on Sea that night to raise funds for Lions Charities and to assist in the setting up of a full Lions Club in Brightlingsea, which will hopefully come to fruition within the next SIX months. 

 

in all over £850 was raised.

 

 

 

Brightlingsea Lions took part in the Brightlingsea Carnival in June 2011

and also had a stall at the Carnival Fete

 

 
 

CLASSIC CARS ON SHOW IN WIVENHOE

 

There was a new Classic Car Show in the area in May which was run by Brightlingsea Lions and the Clacton Classic Car Club and held on Sunday 1st May at Wivenhoe Town Football Ground. There were Classic Motorcycles, Scooters and Military Vehicles on show as well as the Classic Cars; an Autojumble and Car Trade Stands; Fairground Ride; a Bouncy Castle and Slides.

Licensed Bar and other refreshments, including a Burger Stall, were provided and a picnic area .  Plus there was entertainment by the popular local musical act “Funky Voices”. It was a successful day raising over £1,900 for local charities

 

DASH ADDS CHRISTMAS CHEER

Members of the Brightlingsea Lions Branch recently handed over a cheque for £300 to the Deputy’s Christmas Gift Fund as a contribution to the Fund’s activities for the elderly in Brightlingsea over the Christmas Period.

The cheque was handed over to Deputy Tony Spurling at a ceremony in November 2010

The funds came from the Trolley Dash held by Brightlingsea Lions in Fiveways in Brightlingsea in October and November 2010 which raised almost £1,500.  This event will also benefit the East Anglian Children's Hospices.
