Thirty years after the Lions Club of Clacton on Sea was set up by the Lions Clubs of Colchester and Brightlingsea, Clacton Lions set up a Branch Club covering the Brightlingsea area in 2009. The original Brightlingsea Lions Club having folded in the 1990s.
The Branch now has fifteen members with more potential members in the pipeline.
They meet on the first Wednesday in every month at the Royal British Legion in Sydney Street at Brightlingsea at 8.00 pm.

From small beginnings the Brightlingsea Lions are proving a force for good deeds in their area. they have become regulars in the Brightlingsea Carnival with an open-top bus, they have held an annual Trolley dash at Fiveways Superstore, and on Sunday 4th September will be holding the Colne 25 Bike Ride extravaganza for the second year. Also planned is a Pig Race Night on 3rd September for which tickets are now available and on Sunday 25th September they are attempting to create five miles of bras on the Promenade.
