Quizline           

Back in 1993, Adrian Robinson, a member of the Lions Club of Clacton on Sea, set his first quiz which was an elimination round for BBC Essex’s Half Crown Quiz.  The quiz was set up to find the eight teams from the Lions Clubs based in Essex who would compete in the broadcast rounds of the Half Crown Quiz.  This Quiz competition was designed to raise awareness of Children in Need and was devised and compered by Ric Morgan.

From there, as one might say, the rest is history and Adrian then became in increasing demand to create quiz nights to raise funds for local charities.  Over the years, this has expanded to around 10 quizzes a year including the heats and final for a competition amongst the Lions Clubs of East Anglia.

More recently, Adrian has also been writing up to two Quiz Sheets a year to raise further funds for charities in need.  These regularly sell over 1,000 copies locally and across the world-wide web.

At the end of 2010, all these quizzes will have raised over £75,000 for a long list of local and other charities. In December 2011, Adrian will celebrate running his 200th quiz.

Most of the quizzes are run by the Lions Club of Clacton on Sea and the support of the Lions and especially the regular team of hardworking scorers is gratefully acknowledged in reaching the landmark of 200 quizzes.
